Impressionism Reimagined in Photography

'At the place you always see, there's a scene you've never seen before.'

The Experience

150 years ago, Impressionism changed how we see the world. In the 21st century, the photographs of Jonathan Bertin capture the same painterly vitality of the 19th century.

We live our days under the same sky, walking familiar streets and passing by familiar faces. Then suddenly, in a fleeting moment, the ordinary transforms into something entirely new. Bertin calls this the “superordinary.”

Here begins a moment where seeing shifts, and with it, the way we live. To see differently is to live differently. Speak, at last, to the scenes you’ve always passed in silence.

PREVIEW

QUEST 1. NATURE AND LANDSCAPE

“To see things differently and encounter a moment that imprints itself on you.

that’s what travel is.”

Vast mountains, misty forests, endless plains. Within these grand landscapes, small human figures invite a fresh encounter with nature. Bertin captures fleeting, electric moments that awaken the way we see.

QUEST 2. CITY AND PEOPLE

“I discovered the city of Seoul.

And the moment the journey ended, I discovered I wanted to return.”

Cities are more than places. They’re stages of light and emotion. Through an impressionist lens, Bertin reveals the textures of post-pandemic cities, with Seoul’s secrets and silhouettes taking center stage.

QUEST 3. IMPRESSIONISM

“Each day in this world is a poem we read with our eyes.”

Back in his hometown of Normandy, Bertin finds new stories in familiar spaces. This collection, praised in France as a revival of Impressionism, makes its Asian debut here.
